Afghan police kill 5 Taliban militants in Helmand

(Xinhua)_Asadullah Sherzad, the provincial police chief, told Xinhua that police forces in the light of intelligence report raid a Taliban hideout in the north of Lashkar Gha city on Saturday night, killing one Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Bali and his four followers.
Sherzad said those insurgents conducted assault on a police post in Lashkar Gha on Friday night, killing eight policemen.
"Two more insurgents were wounded in the clash while there was no casualty on the police side," he added.
Conflict-plagued Helmand have been the scene of main battle-field between the Afghan army, backed by international troops, and Taliban insurgents as the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) announced launching massive clean-up operation there week ago.
