Taliban claim responsibility for

An explosive-laden truck hit the five-star Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar, the capital city of North West Frontier Province, leaving 18 people dead and scores of others injured on Tuesday.
A suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Lahore, killing six persons and injuring 10 others on Friday.
Taliban claimed responsibility for these two attacks, according to DAWN NEWS.
The attacks could be a backlash of Taliban as a reaction to the ongoing military operation in the northwest, analysts said. Security forces launched a large-scale operation against Taliban militants in some parts of North West Frontier Province in late April. More than 1,400 militants have been killed in the ongoing military operation.
