Roadside bombing kills 3 police, wounds 3 others in Kandahar

Gul Mohammad, a senior police officer, told Xinhua on the spot that it occurred at around 8:20 p.m. local time in the centre of Kandahar city when a car filled with explosives was detonated by remote-control as the police vehicle were passing.
"As a result, three policemen were killed and three others, two policemen and one civilian, sustained injuries," Mohammad added.
No group or individuals claimed responsibility for the attack while Taliban militants vowed to intensify assaults against interests of government and international troops, mostly in the shapes of suicide and roadside bombings.
The conflict-plagued southern Afghanistan has seen escalating of clashes over the past month as some 10,000 additional U.S. troops have been deployed there for combating militancy and stabilizing security for the coming presidential elections.
