Biden continues tour of Afghanistan with a stop in Kandahar

ISAF Regional Command South Commander, Major General Mart C. de Kruif, gave the Delaware Senator a full brief of activities conducted by NATO forces in Southern Afghanistan – a focal point for operations in support of the Afghan people.

“I am very interested in what becomes of this region because it affects us all,” Senator Biden said  yesterday, prior to the start of the briefing.

Senator Biden was accompanied by ISAF Commander, General David McKiernan, as they discussed with Major General de Kruif the future of southern Afghanistan, to include the addition of American troops later this year.
During the briefing, Biden reaffirmed his and President-elect Barack Obama’s pledge to fully support troops and their efforts in the region.

The Senator will conclude his tour later this week with stops in Iraq to meet with military officials there.
