India to Ship 50,000 Tons of Wheat to Afghanistan via Pakistan

The cargo is to be delivered to Afghanistan via thousands of trucks in early February.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_After two months of negotiations between India and over the transfer of wheat donated by to Afghanistan, the two countries have finally agreed on the transfer of 50,000 tons of via the -Wagah land in Pakistan.

The Times of India reported that the shipment is to be delivered to Afghanistan via thousands of trucks in early February.

The first cargo of contributed wheat is scheduled to be shipped to Afghanistan in the second week of next month, the Times of India reported today (Sunday, January 23).

Two months ago, India donated 50,000 tons of wheat to Afghanistan following a drought and ; however, due to differences between India and Pakistan, the transfer of it to the country was not paved.

According to the agreement between the two countries, trucks under the auspices of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) will transport wheat to Afghanistan through the border.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has rarely provided transit facilities for Indian aid to Afghanistan in recent decades. In 2002, when Afghanistan faced a similar , Pakistan rejected a similar Indian offer.

India and Pakistan have agreed on the transfer of Indian aid by land while both countries’ long-standing differences had delayed the transfer of aid for two months.
