The UN Provides Cash Assistance for 3,000 Families in Daikundi
The program will distribute $195 cash assistance to each family in Daikundi IDPs.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs () has begun distributing to more than 3,000 recently displaced families in province.
“The program will provide cash assistance to 3,174 families,” said Naqibullah Azimi, Deputy Regional Director of (OCHA) in Daikundi. The program will distribute $195 cash assistance to each family in Daikundi IDPs. In addition, 300 families have been assisted on the first day of aid in Nili city, the center of Daikundi.
According to Azimi, the needy families were identified in a house-to-house survey about two months ago through the Abrar Institute, the program’s implementing agency, in coordination with the local administration and the Daikundi Refugees and Repatriations Office. Moreover, the deputy governor of Daikundi Haji Rashid said that other aid agencies should seriously implement their plans in the province.
On the other hand, many families in the province criticize the process of identifying the needy, saying that the people in need are not properly identified and intermediaries and powerful people are included in the list. Meanwhile, the aid comes as hundreds of families in the province worry about their lives as winter approaches due to lack of access to food and heating. Hasht-e-Subh reported.
