Daesh claims responsibility for thwarted attack on Kabul’s passport office

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria-Khorasan Branch (ISIS-K) or Daesh claimed responsibility for Thursday’s attack on the General Directorate of Passport in Kabul that was thwarted by the Taliban affiliates.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_ released a statement on Saturday, December 25, and claimed responsibility for the attack. As per the reports of Kabul’s security officials, a suicide attacker wanted to explode his explosive at the gate of the office where hundreds of the Taliban affiliates had gathered. The was identified and was eliminated before exploding his explosives.

Thursday, December 23 was allocated to the Taliban affiliates to get passports and common applicants were not asked to. The Head of the directorate of passport closed the office for three days following the incident citing security threats to the office.

-K has been the only threat to the Taliban after they recaptured power on August 15 but the terror group has always been underrated and the Islamic Emirate of has said that the group is not a threat to them. Ruters reported.
