South Korea pledges $32M in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan
South Korea’s foreign ministry has announced to be providing the people of Afghanistan with $32 million to address the humanitarian crisis of the people of Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Afghanistan’s ambassador to South Korea Abdul Hakim Attarud said that the suggestion for to Afghanistan was carried out in coordination with the ministry and WFP.
“Fortunately, the ministry of foreign affairs of positively responded to a coordinated call of ours and WFP and announced their $32 million in humanitarian aid to the vulnerable people of Afghanistan.” Said the ambassador.
Attarud added that the aid is planned to be distributed through the UN’s administrations, UNDP, WFP, and .
South Korea has said that the aid will not only be delivered to vulnerable people in Afghanistan but to Afghan in Iran and .
The country has also said that money will be spent in providing shelter, food, health services and added that aids of such kind will be pursued in the future as well.
As per the statistics of WFP, 95% population of Afghanistan does not have access to safe food, and that 97% of the people will be below the poverty line in 2022.
It comes as the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs () warned that the biggest humanitarian crisis in taking shape in Afghanistan.
