Some Female Teachers in Afghanistan Teach Students Secretly
Female teachers defy the Taliban by secretly schooling teenage girls.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_ defy the Taliban by secretly schooling teenage girls.
The newspaper reported on Thursday (November 25th) that the teachers were opposed to the schools being closed. For this reason, some teachers provide education for girls in secret places.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, some teachers called the plan vital, stressing that they had decided to secretly teach female students after the Taliban did not allow them to go to school.
“If they stay home for a long period, they get depressed or addicted to their mobile phones,” a teacher has told the Wall Street Journal. “We hope that one day the schools will reopen.”
However, the willingness of parents, teachers, and students to resist the unjustified restrictions indicates a change in Afghanistan over the past two decades.
According to the newspaper, this plan by teachers and families shows that there is strong opposition to the return of violent social laws that were applied in the past.
Since the fall of the previous regime, girls have not been allowed in public schools beyond the sixth grade in Kabul and other cities.
Although the Taliban government has repeatedly promised to reopen schools, it has so far failed to deliver.
At a gathering on Thursday in western Kabul, said that girls’ schools would reopen soon.
He stressed that the Taliban-led government is working on a plan that would allow girls to attend school.
