UN Calls Impartial Investigation on the Murders of Two Human Rights Defenders

The agency tweeted on Sunday, (November 7), calling for an immediate, independent, and impartial investigation on the murders of Forouzan Safi in Mazar-e-Sharif and Hejratullah Khogyani in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan () in Kabul has expressed concern over the safety of human rights defenders in Afghanistan, calling for an investigation into the killing of human right defender Forouzan Safi in-e-Sharif.

The agency tweeted on Sunday, (November 7), calling for an immediate, independent, and impartial investigation on the murders of Forouzan Safi in Mazar-e-Sharif and Hejratullah in , the capital of Nangarhar province.

“Neither civil society is a goal nor impunity is a choice,” UNAMA tweeted.

The body of Forouzan Safi, a university professor and civil activist, along with three other women who had been mysteriously murdered, was found (Thursday, November 4) in a pit on the outskirts of Khalid bin Walid township in the first district of Mazar-e-Sharif a week later.
