EU to reopen diplomatic office in Kabul within a month
European Union has decided to open an office for its diplomatic mission in the Afghan capital in the next one month, Financial Times reported on Sunday, October 24.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_The EU has said that they want to resume their with the Taliban but acknowledged that the interaction and opening the office does not mean recognizing the Taliban.
has said that it is vital to have a diplomatic mission led by the Taliban in Kabul to make sure the Taliban are committed not to allowing Afghanistan to turn into a safe haven of terrorists, are protected, and to prevent the looming in Afghanistan.
The report further adds that the EU dispatched its diplomats to Kabul one month ago to assess the return of other diplomats to Afghanistan as the union is unsure about the transparent distribution of the nearly one-billion Euros relief assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
Though the final decision over assuring the security of the EU office in Kabul has not been made, the union has said that it is the responsibility of the Taliban to man the security of the office.
