Taliban recognition not on agenda, Moscow hosting conference on Afghanistan
It was hoped that the Moscow conference on Afghanistan that comes off Wednesday, October 20 will be focused on recognition of the Taliban along with other issues, but Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said that the recognition is not on their agenda.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_ said that the Taliban must live up to the promises they made when they came to power which was the inclusivity of the government.
The of Afghanistan is now struggling with the recognition and Afghanistan’s foreign assets frozen by the US.
It has been more than two months since the took over Afghanistan but no country has recognized them yet.
In the meantime, India which is one of the attendees of the Format said that they will put the recognition of the Taliban along with terrorism, and on the agenda.
The Indian delegation is expected to be meeting with the Taliban’s delegation in a## face-to-face_meeting on Wednesday. October 20.
The Moscow Format will be attended by India, , Iran, China, Afghanistan, and the host country itself.
Afghanistan’s delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salaam .
The Moscow Format that is composed by the six countries was first introduced in 2017.
