US refuses to lift sanctions on Taliban

The United States has refused to lift sanctions on Taliban, but agreed to provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable Afghans.

Meanwhile, the United States intelligence agencies have warned that -Qaeda can re-group in Afghanistan within the next one to two years and attack America.

Speaking at a conference in Washington, the Director of the Defence Intelligence Agency, Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier said the DIA is thinking about to get into Afghanistan with all kinds of sources and accesses.

Addressing the conference, the Deputy Director David Cohen said we are already seeing the activities of al-Qaeda.

On the occasion, Deputy Director Paul Abbate said we don’t have any specific credible threat information about violence that may occur there.

Addressing the conference, National Intelligence Director, Avril Haines said the greatest threat to the US is not from Afghanistan but from Yemen, , Somalia and Iraq.
