UN to ask for written guarantee from Taliban for humanitarian issues

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths said that the Taliban have given the verbal guarantee, they are asking for a written guarantee from the Taliban for humanitarian affairs, the safety of female employees, and freedom of work.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Under-Secretary-General said that their recent visit with the Taliban’s officials was focused on             ’s_rights in Afghanistan and added that the letter is expected to be given on Monday, September 13.

Martin has also said that millions of Afghan children under five are currently facing the threat of malnutrition and added that two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population was in need of humanitarian aid prior to the transformation in the regime.

As per the Under-Secretary-General, the Taliban have also agreed to receive humanitarian aids from the world and have asked the international community to provide them with assistance relief.

The call for a written guarantee comes as UN secretary-General’s special representative to Afghanistan Deborah Lyons said that they are grateful to the cooperation of The Taliban in not making issues and to the ’s_relief_teams.

UAE, , Qatar, and along with WFP are the countries and organizations that have provided humanitarian aids to the people of Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover.
