Taliban enter Kunduz city, third provincial capital in 48 hours.

The Taliban have toppled Kunduz province in the north of Afghanistan to become the third province in the past 48 hours after southwestern Nimroz and northern Jawzjan province.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_The Taliban have reportedly entered province and attacked central prison releasing prisoners.

The Taliban spokesperson in his Twitter post confirmed that the fighters have entered Police District 2 of Kunduz city.

The Afghan government is yet to comment on the issue.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Ministry of Defense said that the airstrikes targeted a Taliban get-together in the northern provincial capital of province Saturday night.

The ministry said that 40 Taliban have been killed and 14 more wounded in .

The airstrikes come only hours after US President Joe ordered the use of B-52 bombers and Spectre gunships to target the Taliban positions.

US defense sources have said that the bombers have recently targeted in Kandahar, Herat, and Helmand provinces.

President Joe Biden ordered the bombers after the Taliban toppled two provinces in a matter of 24 hours.
