India Cricket Board Put 10-Team Tournament Plans on Hold

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has currently put the proposed 10-team IPL plans on hold as of now, Crictraker reported on Tuesday.

Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_The board was set to launch two new teams in the year 2022 with major auction scheduled for the 15th season.

However, the second wave of the -19 pandemic has put those plans on hold as the BCCI wants to finish the 2021 , which was postponed indefinitely on May 4, 2021, according to the report.

The IPL was "running smoothly with 29 completed games before the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight was called off due to two players from the Riders camp testing positive for the virus," the report said.

The two players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier breached the restrictions norms and came to the place without serving the quarantine period, the report said.

BCCI is looking for a window to complete the remaining 31 matches with many nations, including the UAE, England, Australia, and Sri Lanka "offering a hand to help finish the remainder of the tournament."

BCCI is in "no hurry" to implement a 10-team tournament, it said.
