Taliban's violation of Doha agreement threatens Afghan Peace: Pentagon
Sayhoon News (April 09 - Friday): The Pentagon in its response to the Taliban attacks on Kandahar airport said that violations of the US-Taliban peace agreement can threaten Afghan peace.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_#John_Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said the Taliban have once again violated the #Doha agreement and that the group had carried out attacks on #Kandahar_airport, which will affect the ongoing Afghan peace process.
The Taliban have carried out several attacks on US bases in Khost province, prompting US forces to launch airstrikes on Taliban groups in several areas of Kandahar, including key commanders. It was reported that more than 40 Taliban men were killed in the attack.
The #Pentagon has directed its forces in Afghanistan to retaliate if the Taliban continue violating the Doha agreement. Under the agreement, the Taliban have committed that they will attack foreign troops in Afghanistan.
The Taliban have repeatedly violated the Doha agreement and the latest attack on Kandahar airport has angered the US administration. Washington has said that if the Taliban continue to violate the agreement, it will severely damage the recent opportunity for peace in Afghanistan.
