RSF calls for transparent investigation into assassinations of journalists
Reporters Without Borders has called for an investigation into assassinations of journalists in Afghanistan.
Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)_Reza Moeini, the head of the group of Afghanistan and Iran branch, told Sayhoon News the other day that there is an urgent need for practical measures to #protect_journalists in Afghanistan.
Concerns over the killings of journalists and media workers in Afghanistan have been heightened after the two separate attacks in Jalalabad on March 2 killing three Inaqas television workers.
The militant group #ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Moini added that Afghan government, the United States, Germany and France should support the call by Reporters Without Borders to include these crimes in the International Criminal #Court's_investigation. At least ten journalists have been killed in Afghanistan since 2020, including RFE / RL's Mohammad Ilyas Dai.
Afghan rights campaigners and pro-government figures have also been targeted in a new and worrying trend.
Many of the incidents go unclaimed by any militant group but officials have accused the Taliban of being responsible for the majority of the killings.
