9 Busted over Multiple Charges across Afghanistan
Afghanistan – Counter Narcotic Police of Afghanistan (CNPA) arrested at least nine suspects over multiple charges, including drug trafficking, across Afghanistan, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement.
According to the statement, the security police have carried several operations throughout northern provinces, where they have seized a huge amount of drugs and alcoholic beverages.
“CNPA arrested nine suspects charged with drug trafficking, after #CNPA carried several separate #Counter-Narcotics operations in Nimruz, Balkh, Takhar, Ghazni & Faryab provinces,” the MoIA said in a tweet.
Officials did not provide further details, but said the “CNPA seized 38kg of opium & 137 bottles of #alcoholic_beverages” during the operation.
Afghanistan is one of 16 countries in the world where drinking of alcoholic beverages at any age is illegal for its citizens in the country. Violation of the law by locals is subject to punishment in accordance with the #Islamic_law.
