Officials Nab 5 over Robbery Extortion in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan National Police (ANP) arrested a group of three members suspected of armed robberies in Police District 6 (PD6) of Kabul city, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement Monday morning.

“ANP arrested a group of three armed robbers during a fresh crackdown in #Qala-e-Muslim area, PD#6 of Kabul City,” said the MoIA in a tweet.

Officials did not provide further details on the identify of suspects and charges they bear, but said two further “armed robbers” were jailed for “snatching mobile phones” in Police District 1 (PD1) of the capital city.

“In the meantime, two armed robbers were arrested for snatching mobile phones in PD#1 of Kabul City. ANP recovered 37 stolen cell phones from the arrested,” the tweet added.

Earlier, #Afghan_National_Police (ANP) carried a series of operation in western province of Herat, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement Monday, arresting at least 11 suspects charged with multiple criminal offenses.

The operation came at a time the government has strengthened its security measures against all types of criminal offenses, including #robbery_extortion and drug trafficking throughout Afghanistan.
