Russia deny holding talks with Afghan Taliban in Qatar

Petrenko was abducted along the Turkish citizens in Azra district

Russia has denied holding talks with the Taliban group representatives in Qatar regarding the freedom of the abducted Russian pilot.

The foreign ministry of Russia following a statement denied a senior Taliban official claims regarding the meeting of Russia’s presidential envoy for Afghanistan with the Taliban group.

A senior Taliban official told Associated Press that efforts have been put in place by Russia and former Russian ambassador to Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov is holding talks with the Taliban group to free the Russian the Russian pilot Pavel Petrenko who was abducted by Taliban.

However, Russia’s foreign ministry in it’s statement said President Vladimir Putin’s envoy, “is not holding any talks with the Taliban in Qatar.”

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the fate of the abducted pilot and if talks were held with the Taliban group in Afghanistan or any other place for his freedom.

Petrenko was abducted along the Turkish citizens in Azra district of Logar province after their helicopter made an emergency landing.
 
The Turkish citizens were later released by Taliban group, but there are no reports regarding the Russian pilot and an Afghan citizen.
