US defense secretary arrives in Kabul on unexpected visit

Deadlock on the pact between the two strategic countries soared up after President Karzai convened a grand national tribal elders’ assembly to debate on the pact, with the president failure to ink the document even after an overwhelming support from the Afghan traditional Jirga.

US Defense Secretary, Chuck Haggle arrived in Kabul in a non-preannounced tour during which, the main motive was expected to lessen tension between Kabul and Washington and stimulate the war-torn country to sign the bilateral security agreement.

Deadlock on the pact between the two strategic countries soared up after President Karzai convened a grand national tribal elders’ assembly to debate on the pact, with the president failure to ink the document even after an overwhelming support from the Afghan traditional Jirga.

US President Barack Obama said the pact could be signed between two of the two country’s cabinet members, if the president remained sticking in his position.

But, Karzai warned no member of his government could sign the long stalled deal in which stop on the US forces.’
