Afghanistan Eyeing for Iran

A delegation from Afghanistan’s hospitals, doctors and experts on Tuesday called for developing scientific relations with Iran.
The International Interaction Center of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology hosted the delegation whose aim is to promote scientific relations with Iran.
Head of the International Interaction center Mahdi Qalenoyee and Spokesman for Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health Vahid Majrouh called for developing scientific relations between Iran and Afghanistan.
During the event, Iranian and Afghan knowledge-based companies presented their latest achievements and products.
Lack of security in Afghanistan has been a major hurdle for expansion of cooperation between Tehran and Kabul. A mine explosion earlier this year at the site of a project in Afghanistan killed an Iranian engineer and injured his colleague.
In October, Afghanistan's Minister of Public Health Firouzeddin Firouz said that his country is willing to import more Iranian medicine due to their high quality.
"Only 15% to 20% of Afghanistan's medicine market is supplied by the Iranian drugs," Firouz said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Saeed Namaki in Tehran.
He noted that the Afghan people are satisfied with the quality of the Iranian medicine, and added, "The share of Iranian drugs in this market should increase."
"Also, we can have cooperation with Iran in transferring the technology to produce medicine in the next phase," Firouz said.
Iran has taken long strides in the field of health and hygiene.
In June, the country hosted the 2nd edition of International Confobition (Conference and Exhibition) on Health Tourism as well as the ECDO-NGOs and Health Tourism Agencies Meeting in the Northern city of Ardabil with participants from the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and Islamic countries.
