Ex-Afghan communications minister, Wahidi, cleared of corruption
Afghanistan's attorney-general has cleared former minister for telecommunications and information technology of suspicions of corruption.

AVA- Abdul Razaq Wahidi had been suspended in January amid investigation into the collection of a 10 percent tax on mobile phone topups imposed in 2015.

Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in a meeting told the Wahidi that he was not responsible and was not involved in claims of corruption in the ministry.

He stated that the allegations were proved baseless. “According to the investigation, there wasn’t any wrongdoing in your work,” Abdullah told him.

Wahidi is cleared of corruption as the president has already nominated Shahzad Gul Aryoubi as the minister of telecommunications and IT.

Abdullah criticized “prolonging” of the investigation.
