AVA- Lawmaker Obaidullah Barakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News the victims of the blast were ordinary people tasked by district Police Chief Asadullah known as Aka to construct a check-point.
He said the mine blast took place at a time when work was underway on check-point. Among the dead was Mohammad Basir who served as a teacher.
Aminullah, an eyewitness, said police forced some people to go with them for the construction of check-posts. Deputy Governor Abdul Wahid Patan confirmed the incident but did not provide more details.
Deputy Police Chief Abdul Qavi Umari, said the blast targeted civilians who returned from police check-post after they drank tea with security forces.
Chora is one of the insecure districts of Uruzgan where clashes between the Taliban and security forces took place on daily basis.
