Vice-President Hamid Ansari will meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai this week to review the situation in the war torn country before it goes to elections. Ansari is in Kabul to participate in the prayer meeting of Afghanistan's first Vice-President Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim.
Sources here said the security situation in the country ahead of the impending pullout of international forces will be discussed in detail in the meeting. Ansari will take part in the prayer meeting to be held at the presidential palace and also meet Marshal Fahim's family members.
Marshal Fahim died on Sunday following cardiac arrest at his Kabul home.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said he was a close friend of India and his contribution to Afghanistan's reconstruction after over three decades of war and conflict will always be remembered.
Marshal Fahim had visited India in 2011 at the invitation of the Vice-President.
