Afghan President on a state visit to Sri Lanka
The President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai will arrive in Colombo today on a two-day state visit to Sri Lanka.

Karzai will lead a high level delegation to Sri Lanka from 5th to ۷th March 2014, at the invitation of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

A ceremonial welcome will be accorded to the visiting dignitary at the Presidential Secretariat on 6th March 2014, followed by bilateral talks between the two leaders, the External Affairs Ministry said.

Three Memoranda of Understanding between the two countries for cooperation in training of Afghan nurses in Sri Lanka, Education and Sports are due to be signed during the visit.

This will be the first-ever State visit to Sri Lanka by the President of Afghanistan.

President Karzai will be accompanied by Foreign Minister, Zarar Ahmad Usmani, Deputy National Security Advisor, Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta, Presidential Advisor, Yahya Marufi, Higher Education Minister, Obaidullah Obaid and Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Amena Afzali and Public Health Minister, Dr. Suraya Dalil.(Colombopage)
