Afghan intelligence seize 20 thousand kgs of explosives in Paktika
The Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) announced Monday that a truck packed with explosives was seized by NDS operatives in eastern Paktika province of Afghanistan.
The National Directorate of Security (NDS) following a statement said, the explosives were packed in 400 bags, and the militants were looking to transport the explosives to Sharana city for terrorist activities.
The statement further added that Afghan intelligence operatives arrested three suspected militants in connection to the smuggle of ammonium nitrate explosives to Paktika province.
According to the NDS officials, the militants were looking to carry out coordinated explosions and suicide attacks in various parts of Paktiya province during the elections day.
NDS added in its statement that investigations have been launched in this regard.
Anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.
Paktika is among the relatively volatile provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where militants from the Taliban group and Haqqani Network are operating in a number of its districts.
Ammonium nitrate is used to create hommade improvised explosive device, which are used as the weapon of choice by to target Afghan and coalition security forces
