Iran's Embassy in Kabul rejected media reports about holding a trilateral meeting among the Iranian, Afghan and US envoys in the Western city of Herat.
The Iranian Embassy in Kabul officially rejected the media claims that a meeting was held on the sidelines of "the Second International Conference on Security Dialogue" among the Iranian, Afghan and US envoys in Herat on Monday.
He emphasized that no envoy from Iran had participated in the conference.
Late in September, Afghanistan announced that it is due to host a security meeting among Tehran, Washington and Kabul in the Western province of Herat on October 5-6.
"The representatives of Iran, Afghanistan and the US will have tri-partite talks to study security issues," Director of Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) Davoud Moradian said in a press conference at the time.
He said that the tri-partite talks will be held on the sidelines of the Herat 2 security meeting with over 30 international organizations and state, parliament and NGO representatives in attendance.
"At this meeting, security issues beyond the military issues will be studied and discussed," Moradian underlined.
