The aim of the measures is an improvement of the flight control in the Afghan airspace. A better flight control is one of the priority projects of the Afghan Government and in urgent need of improvement and standardization to support increasing air traffic.
the German Development Bank (KfW), in attendance of the German Ambassador Werner Hans Lauk, signed a financing agreement with the Afghan Minister for Finance Dr. Omar Zakhilwal and the Minister of Transport Hamidullah Faroqee for a further project in the Afghan civil aviation safety.
The aim of the measures is an improvement of the flight control in the Afghan airspace. A better flight control is one of the priority projects of the Afghan Government and in urgent need of improvement and standardization to support increasing air traffic.
The German Development Bank KfW coordinates the technical implementation of the flight control system. It contains the installation of a wide area multilateration system at the most important airport in Afghanistan. Costs for the equipment, personnel training and a detailed planning for the location of the respective components amount to 11, 65 million Euros. The system’ shall start already next year.
