19 ANA Soldiers Killed, 7 Abducted in Kunar
At least 19 Afghan national army soldiers were killed and 7 others were abducted by insurgents in an ambush on an army checkpoint in Kunar province, local officials said Sunday.

Provincial spokesman Abdul Ghani Musamim told TOLOnews that the attack occurred around 3;30 local time on Sunday, when a group of insurgents attacked an Afghan national army checkpoint in the Sharghish area of Ghazi district of Kunar province.

According to Musamim the clash is still continuing and more Afghan forces have arrived at the area.

The number of injured soldiers has not been reported yet.

No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility yet.

The attack took place two days after when at least one Afghan Nationa Police (ANP) officer was killed and three others injured during a battle between police and insurgents in the Sorubi District of Kabul on Friday.

Kabul has witnessed several explosions and suicide attacks in a spell of winter security setbacks that have worried many as the April elections draw near and foreign troops continue to pack up ahead of their withdrawal in December.
