President Ghani Strongly Criticizes Afghan Mayors, High Level of Imports
President Ashraf Ghani strongly criticizing the performance of mayors and the country’s high level of imports said today in the Fourth National Urban conference that no provincial mayor have details of their incomes and the high balance of imports is a big threat to country’s future.

AVA- “We have $2 billion food imports and $1 billion imports of building materials which neither of the two goods are not needed to be imported from the foreign countries”, further stated president Ghani in the meeting which was held today, November 18, inside the presidential palace also known as Arg.

Meanwhile, Sayed Saadat Mansoor Naderi, Afghan Minister of Urban Development referring to Afghanistan membership in the World Council of Good Governance as a big achievement, said that “Afghanistan’s membership in the Council is a good opportunity and Afghanistan can offer its schemes in the field”.

President Ghani also strongly criticizing the failure of Department of Government Cases in addressing land grabbing cases stressed that the country’s Supreme Court will create a special court for pursuing the issue.

“The Supreme Court is determined to establish a special court for the issue. I am not satisfied with the performance of Government Cases Department at all and will transfer such authorities of Justice Ministry to the Supreme Court”, he further noted.

Mr.Ghani also went on to strictly criticize the land and water management and pledged to bring serious reforms in the country’s municipalities.

The National Unity Government has also stated that $750 million will be invested on the betterment and improvement of the city’s condition through the next year.
