Juice producing plant inaugurated in Afghan capital
A juice producing plant established with 11 million U.S. dollars has been inaugurated in the war-torn Afghan capital Kabul, a press release the Ministry for Agriculture and Livestock said Saturday.
Minister for Agriculture and Livestock in its opening remarks, according to the press release, described it a step towards progress and adding the plant would provide job opportunities to hundreds of men and women.

"This factory plans to purchase fruit from 50,000 Afghan farmers, hire hundreds of women to work in packaging, and recruit loyal customers around the world," the Minister said in the inaugural ceremony of the factory.

It is negotiating with giant companies in North America and Europe for its concentrated juices made from Afghan pomegranates, apples, melons, apricots and peaches, the press release said.

The company is seeking more fruit because of expected global demand, it said.
