General Abdul Rahim Wadak announced his withdrawal from the April presidential election race. He has not yet declared support for any of the remaining candidates.

Gen. Wardak is a former Minister of Defense and a military advisor, and his withdrawal leaves nine men still vying to replace President Hamid Karzai.

Meanwhile, a number of analysts call these kinds of decisions continuation of efforts for coalition of presidential candidates.

"Power was never important to me and will never be. The same way I have resigned from five different key positions in the past, similarly, I deny to join any other presidential campaign them for the upcoming elections" says Wardak.

While citizens of Afghanistan complain from absence of presidential campaigns in villages and countryside, Mr. Wardak defined his way of campaign as below.

"While, I do not want to discuss the elements and reasons behind my withdrawal, but I would like to add that our presidential campaign was intentionally slow since the start" Wardak added.

This is the second candidate who has withdrawn from the race. A number of analysts associate Mr. Wardak's withdrawal to Qayoum Karzai's withdrawal.

"The same way that Presidential palace forced Mr. Qayoum Karzai to withdraw in favor of Zalmay Rassoul, this might be in continue to those efforts so that they can help their favored candidate wine and provide better opportunity for them" Mir Ahmad Joyenda, Political Analyst .
Last month, Qayoum Karzai, the brother of the President, officially ended his bid and threw his support behind former Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul.
