
Armed men beat 2 local journalists in Afghan capital

Armed men after beating two journalists of a local television Sepehr took them into custody for four hours, said a press release of the private television channel on Saturday
"The gruesome incident took place on Thursday when reporter Nasir Ahmad and cameraman Sibghatullah were preparing a report in Kabul city when armed men begun beating them and put them in their custody for four hours," the press release said.
In the press release, it also called on the government to take legal action against those responsible for attacking journalists and ensure press freedom in the country.
Over a dozen private television channels have been established in Afghanistan over the past eight years. Journalists including Afghan and foreigners in the past too, had been threatened, beaten or even killed in the country.
